After starting his career as a graphic reproducer in the depths of a pre-press house, Mike quickly found his forte and entered into the world of sales. The following 25-years have provided him with a wealth of experience in Sales, Sales Management and Consultancy roles with many small to medium businesses as well as a selection of publicly listed companies. 

His focus centres around empowering the people he works with through blended learning and training programs, Virtual Sales Management and facilitated strategic sales and business consultancy. Mike provides them with access to a toolbox of support that enables each person to make a difference for themselves. His programs are designed to help individuals become better leaders who run better businesses.

Mike has worked with companies such as Viva Energy, AGR Matthey, Heidelberg Australia, Océ, Canon, Draeger Medical, Pioneer Electronics and JCB and many other small to large organizations both with external sales teams, internal selling groups, executives and boards. Many of these organizations have retained Mike’s services after the initial program in order to coach and motivate individuals and teams for sustained continuous improvement.

Mike presently runs six business Clubs in Australia and New Zealand, exclusively for the development of Sales Managers, leaders and business owners. The Clubs provide opportunities for regular learning & development, peer networking and personalised coaching. Mike advises corporate boards and is currently the Virtual Sales Manager of a number of firms and Independent Chairman of a New Zealand based accounting firm and a Real Estate Agency.

In 2007 Mike was awarded the High Achiever Award from Mindshop Australia for “continuous improvement and high achievement as a Mindshop member”. Mike is an accomplished public speaker and has been engaged to speak on a range of business, leadership and sales topics at conferences and seminars in Australia, New Zealand and internationally. He is a member of the Mindshop Australia Senior Management Network and is AMSF+ Accredited to ‘Expert’ level.

In 2019 Sales Shift expanded to include the UK and Europe through the alignment with a Sales Shift Master in Jason Langford-Brown. Together Sales Shift provides individuals, teams and organisations with everything they need to change and succeed by creating environments of potential.

In recent years Mike has authored and published two books on sales and selling. His 2018 book, SALES SHIFT, was a #1 best seller on Amazon while the proceeds from the little fable, SALES CATS, have been gifted to the School of St Jude. Mike’s White Paper, Sales Shift 2020, published in 2013, has seen many of his predictions regarding the direction and positioning of sales be realised. It is this understanding of sales and the current business and leadership environment that makes him a sought after Strategic Advisor.

Mike balances his corporate life with a commitment to a number of charitable organisations. Primarily Mindshop Excellence, The School of St Jude, The Carji Cub, Righteous Pups and a unique Leadership Development Program for Grade 5 and 6 students he developed and started fifteen years ago.

    Mike is an accredited and active member of the Mindshop advisor community. He has been a member for over 10 years and is currently running six growth hubs. He has completed all online courses and written the Sales course for Mindshop.

    Mindshop Excellence is the community purpose of the Mindshop organization – it’s our way of giving back to the community by providing a valuable learning opportunity to future young leaders. It is a structured workplace learning program, in place of the traditional work experience, where small groups of up to six Year 10 or Year 11 (15/16-year-old) students are placed into a host organisation for one week.
