Aligning a Leader’s Vision Through Base Camp.

Though most leaders have a firm idea of the common goal and vision for their business, disconnection often happens when trying to cascade it through the company.

Often, Leaders struggle to communicate their vision clearly, with engagement by their teams and therefore battle to get people to align to implement successfully. A Sales Shift Base Camp is a structured and interactive program for Leaders wanting to align their teams with the strategic direction, engage them in decision making and cement the team's commitment and focus.

Why is it called Base Camp?

Base Camp is known as the staging ground before the ascent of Everest. Everest and all it brings emotively allows us to use the power of story and endurance to connect teams and leaders to a purpose often beyond revenue and profit.

As in mountaineering, it takes well-skilled, disciplined, and high-performing teams to make successful organisational 'ascents.' And it takes a special breed of high-performance leaders to elicit "peak" performance from themselves, their people, and their processes.

During a Base Camp, teams clarify a shared vision of their summit before planning their route and allocating roles and responsibilities. Finally, they take collective responsibility for developing the skills, knowledge, and 'climbing fitness' to reach their destination. Throughout this process, the strength of belief binds teams together in a commitment to achieving the summit, knowing their ascent is worthy and that they will succeed by working together.

Framing our program as a Base Camp allows us to create scenarios that test your team and strategies under pressure but not on the summit's edge. It guides your organisation's ascent to its chosen 'peak' where we facilitate high-performance teamwork that assists you in developing a sound strategy and belief in a successful "ascent."

How a Base Camp Works?

Confirm the Vision

The first step is to challenge and stretch the existing business vision to test its robustness and feasibility. It's an opportunity to 'begin with the end in mind.' Using pure facilitation skills, leader, and team input, we extract the nuances that make your business unique, ensuring your company vision covers all that you need.

Present the Vision

Over a couple of days, we will assist you in bringing your organisation together to launch and present the business vision and its link to the business goals. Through this shared adventure, we help set the scene for your team to understand their role in the new direction and realise the possibilities of success.

Secure Alignment

While Base Camps work exceptionally well to reset and align organisational silos, our local Director's Circle and Growth Clubs provide the ongoing structure to continue to develop sales and business leaders professionally and personally. Our clubs offer proven professional development via personal coaching, peer group workshops, and access to relevant and specific learning tools and resources.

What does a typical Base Camp involve?

A strength of the Base Camp program is its ability to facilitate customised content to suit individual companies and leaders.

Most often, Base Camp programs are run over two days at an offsite venue allowing for a broad range of events and activities to develop, illustrate, and workshop the program outcome. After signing on and scheduling dates for the workshop, Sales Shift will work closely with you to custom design a program in line with your objectives. The various tools used to create a Base Camp Program include but are not limited to:-

Experiential Challenges

High Rope

Rafting

Experiential Learning

Righteous Pups

Reach Foundation

Mindset Challenges

Team and mixed group workshops

Are there Base Camp gains beyond the event?

After a Base Camp, teams are energised, aware, and aligned to a common goal and exciting vision. They have a purpose to be at work beyond the paycheck, and we often see a heightened sense of collaboration and communication between teams, and cadence becomes more straightforward.

Progress for individuals typically continues through a program of ongoing coaching and development. Director's Circle and Growth Club deliver proven professional development through personal coaching, peer group workshops, and access to relevant and specific learning tools and resources. We can also provide ongoing direct support to business leaders through a strategic and aligned leadership coaching program.

Ultimately, a Base Camp Program offers a sneak peek into what high-performing cultures can do and how they should look. Under brilliant facilitation, we allow participants to test their boundaries and challenge themselves and their team to breaking point. Unlike the real world, we catch them if it breaks, holding up mirrors to show them how to avoid making the same errors again and send them back with increased solidarity and connection to their teammates and a clear vision for business growth.
